PAY US OUR MONEY, IMO PENSIONERS TELL OKOROCHA

BY fcc JONES. Pensioners have cried out to the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to live up to his pledge as the peoples Governor and immediately pay them their pension arrears, which ranges from three years to three months, depending on which area of the State you are coming from, and which of the ministries you retired from. According to Chief Paul Ekeo...cha who hails from Ulakwo in Aboh Mbaise L.G.A, he received his pension for the last time in May, 2013. "As a retired Primary school teacher, this is the first time, since I retired in 2006 that I have not received my pension for this length of time, even previous governments that we saw as wicked and unfriendly to the ordinary people never treated us like this. Please the Governor should pay us, so that we can solve our pressing problems." The story is the same from all the pensioners interviewed, with an exception being those who are owed for just one month. According to a retired school principal from Ngor Okpala L.G.A who spoke to me on strict conditions of anonymity; "Owelle is an unprecedented disappointment and disaster. This is the first time in my time as a pensioner that the government has not paid my pension till the middle of the month, even Ohakim whom I thought was the worst Governor to have ruled this State always paid us long before the month ends. As an old man with old age related ailments, where does the Governor expect me to get money to buy my routine drugs and meet other needs? It is unfortunate that he doesn't just care about us." ******************************************************************************* A government that owes everybody and for everything is a disastrous government that must be sent packing at the slightest opportunity. IMO GA ADI MMA OZO!
