Côte d’Ivoire exits the World Cup after Heartbreaking Extra Time Greece Penalty Goal

They were seconds away from the Final 16 of the 2014 World Cup and then their dreams crumbled. Côte d’Ivoire, one of the top teams from the African continent with superstar players including Didier Drogba, Kolo Touré and Yaya Touré have exited the World Cup. Going into the match, Côte d’Ivoire needed just 1 point to proceed to the next round. The scoreboard opened with Andreas Samaris‘ 42nd minute goal. Then in the 74th minute, Ivory Coast’s dreams were renewed with a goal by Wilfried Bony. During the extra time period, a controversial penalty was awarded to Greece and Georgios Samaras sealed the deal and propelled his team to victory. It is a heartbreaking moment for Côte d’Ivoire fans.
