Founder of Boko Haram is a member of the opposition – FFK

While speakingon Channels TV’s breakfast show, Sunrise Daily, this morning June 30th, former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, who recently dumped the APC for PDP, said the founder of terrorist group, Boko Haram, is an indigene of Borno state and is also a key official of the opposition. He also said Boko Haram is the armed wing of the opposition. Some of what he said below…
“It is very clear that the founder of Boko Haram, the person that actually founded Boko Haram when he was in office…and I won’t mention his name on Television but everybody knows who it is, is from Borno state. He is alive and well. He is a key member of the opposition. Again I look at the utterances of the official spokesman of the oppositionlast year, that is Lai Mohammed, where he protested at the fact that Boko Haram was proscribed by the federal government where he said it was unconstitutional for the federal government to do so. He needs to explain why it is he would want to protect and support an organization that has killed almost 15,000 Nigerians as at that time and is against the fact that they were being proscribed to protect Nigerians.
“If you compare whats happening in Nigeria to what happened in Ireland some years ago, you had Sinn Fein on the one hand and then you had the IRA on the other. The IRA was the armed wing of Sinn Fein and as far as Im concerned, Boko Haram could well be described as the armed wing of the opposition, today.

5 Things About Women And Dating That Every Man Should Know

In today’s post I want to share five things about women every man should know, things I’ve learned along the way that might be useful to some of you.

5. Always Have A Plan When you meet a woman who interests you, the first step toward carving out your own little space in her life is showing her that you can be relied upon. The easiest way to show her that you’re reliable is to tell her what you’re going to do and then do it. It starts with the little things. If you take her card and tell her you’ll email her the next day, email the next day. Be on time when you meet for drinks and when you decide to have your first official date, have it planned from beginning to end. She won’t tell you how much she appreciates it right away, but appreciate it she will. Having a plan and then knowing how to make it come together is one of the easiest ways to separate yourself from most of the men she’s encountered. Most women say they love spontaneity, but what they don’t tell you is that they want that spontaneity to be experienced within the confines of an executed plan. A good woman will follow you through the gates of hell as long as you have an exit strategy and as long as you told her that going through hell was part of the plan.

4. You Can’t Save Them All When I was younger, I thought all women were, by nature – good, possessed of good morals and good character. The ones whose behavior indicated otherwise were women who had somehow gone astray and could be saved by the right man. The truth is, you will meet some women and you will take them as they are. Be to them who you need to be at that moment and allow her to be for you, who you need her to be at that moment. You’ll use each other, emotionally, sexually and in any other way you might desire. That’s just part of life. The key is for you to make sure you both go into it with both eyes open, communicating to one another your expectations, or lack there of, accurately. You will not fall in love with every woman who falls in love with you, you can’t be everything for every woman you meet, and you can’t save all the women in your life because not all of them will want to be saved. Some of them will just want you, then.

3. Let Her Talk … and Listen to What She Says Another key part to endearing yourself to a woman you’re interested in is letting her talk and listening to what she says. As men, we like to brag, we like to boast, we like to let women know how great we are. There’s nothing wrong with that, in moderation – as you should be your own biggest fan. The key is to make sure you do way more listening than talking, especially in the early stages of a relationship. You’d be surprised at how little women are heard in our society. Women are often marginalized and unheard at their jobs, when they talk to their girlfriend’s they usually just swap stories, never really taking in what each other are saying. If you listen to what she says, taking care to appreciate the everyday minute of her life, she won’t be able to help but fall for you. The other, more important benefit of letting her talk and listening to what she says is that you actually get to learn her. You get a real opportunity to see what she’s really about which will help you determine whether or not this is someone you really want to be with.

2. Above All Else, Be Intriguing To be handsome and have great style is a good thing. To be smart and funny is even better. Having success is always an added bonus and of course you want to be a great conversationalist. But above all those things, the most important asset you have in your initial interactions with a woman who piques your interest is your intrigue. The best women, the ones who are worth reconfiguring your life around – they meet smart, funny, interesting guys with style all the time and usually, they forget about those guys. But there’s something special about the intriguing man. If you are intriguing, she’ll find herself sitting at her desk wondering what makes you tick. She’ll wonder if you were serious when you said that funny thing she thought to be a joke at the time, but now seems a bit more confounding. Most importantly, she’ll wonder what you thought of her. She’ll wonder if you thought she was attractive, funny, smart, dumb or corny. Being intriguing gives a woman the opportunity to let her imagination run wild. Before she knows it, she’ll find herself wondering what she thought about before she spent her days thinking about you. So how does one be intriguing? It’s simple, it starts with your attitude. You need to understand that not every woman needs, wants or deserves to know you. There are parts of you that are yours and yours alone. Develop that sort of self-image and you will exude it with those you meet. Don’t be douchey and self-absorbed about it. Be confident that who you are is special and different from everyone else and the knowledge of just how special and different you are is not given freely to every pretty girl that comes along, but is instead earned by the woman who is patient and discerning.

1. Trust is a Gift Not Given to Every Woman You Encounter The most valuable gift you can ever give to a woman is your trust; give it wisely and with discretion. There is no more important skill to develop than the ability to learn people. The ability to learn people is important because it is only after knowing a woman wholly and fully that you should allow yourself to trust her. Even then, trust her to be who you know her to be not who she believes she is; there is often a difference. Sometimes, when emotions are heavy and feelings are deep, a woman will be more inclined to say what she thinks you want to hear. She’s not lying to you or trying to deceive you; what she’s saying she truly believes. It is your job to know her well enough at that point to decide whether what she’s saying and what she’s capable of are one in the same. You need to develop the discipline to base your actions on the latter. Consistently doing this will make you villainous in the eyes of some of the women you come to know, but it will also make you a hero to others. Either way you should sleep soundly at night, secure in the knowledge that what you’ve done was always what was best for both of you.

9 (powerful) ways to help your children reach their future goals

June 28th, 2014 | SOURCE:YNaija!

If your children have some experience at a certain field, it will be beneficial for them and they will get more chances to fulfill their career goals. When children grow up they usually begin to make plans for future and choose a profession they would like to get. But at this early age they are not experienced enough to make a good choice and all their dreams may turn out to be futile. Thus, it is important for all parents to respect their childrens decision and direct them onto the right career path. Remember that only your support and involvement will help your child to become successful and happy in their life. Consider the following tips to implement your childs desires.

1. Plan in advance You ought to think of your childs future in advance in order to avoid unwanted problems later. It would be useful for them to attend special courses when they are at high school. As a result, your children will be able to acquire knowledge and skills that are necessary for a particular occupation. This way they can obtain a degree so that it will be easier to find a job afterwards.

2. Explore the job description Once youve decided on your childs career, try to examine thoroughly the description of the job. When you know all the requirements you can pick out the most appropriate degree program for your child. The right option will allow them to gain the basic skills that are essential for their profession.

3. Choose the right college You have to be very careful while selecting the best college for your child as it is a responsible step on the way to their success. First of all this educational establishment should fit his or her abilities and interests. Dont forget about the job requirements. That is the most crucial factor that influences your choice of the college. It would be reasonable for you to get acquainted with the academic program and subjects that your child will study. Plus, you may also survey the progress of those who graduated from this college.

4. Consider experience requirements If your children have some experience at a certain field, it will be beneficial for them and they will get more chances to fulfill their career goals. Thats why you need to look for a related job that will enable your child to try his/her proficiency. Perhaps, its not the job of their dream, but this is a wonderful opportunity to pave their way to great achievements and succeed in the selected industry. Moreover, your child can study and acquire experience at the same time.

5. Advanced degree programs Certainly, employers are more interested in those graduates who have a masters degree. Even if you lack experience, they will accept you eagerly since your degree characterizes you as a highly educated and proficient person. Due to this I recommend you to encourage your child to get a higher degree after their bachelor program. Good education is the main thing they need for further advancements.

6. Check if there are any internships Today there are lots of colleges that offer internships to their students. So, you should assist your children to apply for them, if possible. This is an excellent way to practice in their favorite sphere of activity. The only thing you may not like about internships is the fact that they dont pay a salary. However, experience is the most valuable quality for your child.

7. Review salary maximums Undoubtedly, salary is one of those things that determine our career choice. A perfect job is the one that brings us enjoyment and a high salary as well. Unfortunately, its rather difficult to find such job these days. Still you should be aware of the maximum salary your child can earn while being engaged in the selected career. Sure, when they just start to work for the company, you cant expect huge sums of money. But if they get a promotion, their salary will be increased anyway.

8. Examine the job market It is impossible to reach the desirable results in a definite industry in case you dont know how to examine the job market. Parents must teach their children to spot the most profitable regions for their career. Having gained recognition at one place, they can easily switch to a new highly-paid job that will provide prosperity to them.

9. Stay positive Bear in mind that your emotional state has a great impact on your child. Therefore, you should do your best to cheer them up whatever happens. When children see their parents in a good mood, they will be inspired to attain their aim. Your praise is a splendid way to motivate them to continue their journey. They should be ready for different obstacles on their career path. Failure is not the reason to give up, its just a chance to take a new step.

Your childs happiness and success mostly depend on your encouragement and approval of their dreams. When it comes to their future, you shouldnt stay aside. It is the responsibility of all parents to help their children find the right way in life and to be near whenever they need

Ekiti state election: APC says they are going to court

The APC has released a statement saying they are going to court to challenge the process of the recently concluded governorship election in Ekiti State, for what it termed the militarization of Ekiti during the campaignand election period.
APC says the election was neither free nor fair. (Kayode Fayemi and Ayo Fayose pictured above after the election) Rising from its National Working Committee meeting, the APC in a statement signed byitsNational Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, saidsome of their members were harassedby military men before and during the election and this in no small measure affected the performance of their Party during the elections.

Find the statement in part after the cut… “In order to prevent a recurrence of what happened in Ekiti, especially the militarization of the process, the harassment and intimidation of citizens, especially those in opposition, my party has decided to challenge in court some of these constitutional breaches and will also encourage our leaders and supporters, who were arrested, harassed and intimidated to seek the enforcement of their fundamental rights that were recklessly abridged by the security agencies.

“We believe that the events leading to the D-Day in Ekiti negate the principles of a free, fair and credible election. From the militarization of the election to the police attack on our supporters, arrest and detention of our leaders across the state and the use of huge funds to induce voters, the federal authorities skewed everything in favour of the PDP. With thousands of armed troops, police, state security and civil defence personnel deployed to Ekiti, the state was simply under a total lockdown”

APC is totally opposed to democracy and orderliness PDP

June 27th, 2014 | SOURCE:PM News

                                                       Olisa Metuh,

National Publicity Secretary The PDP has criticised the leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) for not accepting the processes and outcome of the 21 June, governorship election in Ekiti State.

National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Olisa Metuh, made this position known in a statement in Abuja on Thursday.

APCs position on the election demonstrates its preference for anarchy and blind homage to nihilism and destruction of the democratic order. The election, the statement noted, was widely accepted as one of the freest, fairest and most credible in the country.

The APC has once again confirmed that it is totally averse to democracy and orderliness. It has shown that it is a party of desperate and frustrated individuals promoting a Janjaweed ideology, the statement said. PDP said the APC was defeated in all the local governments of the state and lost in the polling units and wards of its campaign Director-General.

It added that it was regrettable that in spite of the loss, the APC was bent on fomenting trouble to disrupt the peace in Ekiti state. This, it noted was apparently out of frustration; that it did not get the chance to rig the polls. We restate our commendations to security agencies for the roles they played in maintaining law and order and providing level playing ground for all parties before, during and after the election.

We, however, wish to alert of an orchestrated plot by the APC to now use the instruments of wild allegations and spurious claims to set the stage to unleash mayhem on Ekiti, the statement said. It alleged that the APC intended to use imported armed thugs to achieve its objectives in this regard.

The statement, therefore, urged Nigerians to note this and hold the APC responsible should there be any breakdown of law and order in Ekiti State. Ayodele Fayose, PDPs candidate in the election, polled 200,390 votes, while the incumbent, Dr Kayode Fayemi of APC, polled 120,433 votes

“Mysterious Bees & Snakes Attack us in Sambisa Forest” – Boko Haram

Tales by Moonlight?

Some Boko Haram members who were arrested in Maiduguri allegedly revealed that most of their fellow terrorists are fleeing Sambisa Forest due to “spiritual attacks from mysterious snakes and bees,” which have killed many of their leaders, Vanguard reports. The terrorists, who were captured by the Civilian JTF vigilante group, reportedly gave varying accounts of being haunted by the animals.

One of the insurgents named Kolo Mustapha reportedly said: “Most of us are fleeing because there are too many snakes and bees now in the forest.

Once they bite, they disappear and the victims do not last for 24 hours. We were told that the aggrieved people who had suffered from our deadly mission, including the ghosts of some of those we killed, are the ones turning into the snake and bees. They (leaders) believe the Chibok people are using juju to pursue us because of their children said to have been taken by our leaders.

” Mustapha also allegedly said that sect members have realised their mistakes and repented. He promised Civilian JTF vigilante group that if they are spared they would help the community in capturing their fellow insurgents.

Imo 2015: My plans, prospects and preparations

June 27th, 2014 | SOURCE:Vanguard on Tweet Broadcast journalist and politician,

Senator Chris Anyanwu was a refreshing face on Nigerian television in the early eighties with her unique reportage of the National Assembly, and subsequently, her gripping narratives of the dynamics of the international energy market. Trained in American journalism schools, Anyanwu following her days at the NTA and stint as Commissioner for Information in the mid eighties, made a unique incursion into print journalism with the introduction of The Sunday Magazine, TSM in the early nineties before anchoring her media dreams on radio with the establishment of Hot FM at the turn of the century.
with a heartof steel encased in physical frame of unfading beauty, the journey to success was not always smooth for Anyanwu. It was especially so for her when beauty and brain collided with the brawn of the Sanni Abacha regime at the peak of that regimes bastardisation of human values.Senator Anyanwu has lived to tell her story which has since progressed through two terms in the Senate and is now focused on an anchor at the Imo Government House.
Following a morning walk out session and over a breakfast of fruits, she spoke on her time in the Senate and the continuing plea of Ndi Imo for help. Excerpts: By Emmanuel Aziken, Political Editor

ALMOST eight years in the Senate now. How has it been?

Its been good. Its been good. The Senate has been very satisfying for me in one sense and that is the fact that I have been able to lobby for projects going to the East, especially Imo State.
I have always said that Imo State and the Southeast have been very underdeveloped even in the years that the Nigerian Federal Government was investing in industries and institutions, but not much was done in my state. So, we have a situation where people go to school and after that go to Lagos, go to Abuja and even to other places where the opportunities are more. But that does not make for development, rather it dries it of useful manpower and the ripple effect of a large income earning population is not felt. You know if people are working there, paying taxes there and buying there, it will trickle down to the ordinary people and lead to advancements but we havent felt it because there have been very few opportunities. Now with me in the Senate what we have been trying to do is to try and lobby the Federal Government to bring projects, and we are talking about the basics like roads, water, hospitals and we have moved on to the higher levels and talking about employment, building institutions that can employ people or prepare people for self employment or employment elsewhere. Building institutions That is where we are and to that extent I can say that it has been satisfying for me because I have been able to do a few of those and made my contribution.

What would you describe as your most challenging experience in the Senate?

The challenge has been that you dont pass laws by yourself. You may have all the enthusiasm, you may come up with one million bills, but at the end of the day it has to follow a process that is so sluggish. The fact that you pass a bill in one chamber does not guarantee that it will be passed in the other chamber. You have to have them passed in both the House and the Senate and it has to be done within a time frame that allows you to also go to the president and secure his assent.

*Chris Anyanwu The very sluggish process of passage of bills in the Nigerian legislature is very challenging if not frustrating, not just to me, but for most legislators. I wish there was some way of quickening the process of passage of bills. You see, it takes a lot of work to get meaningful bills. Often you have consultants, you have lawyers, a lot of research goes into them and these are things we think can have very meaningful impact on the people.

Is there any particular bill you proposed that has been so affected?

Off course! In the last assembly, my Sexual Offences Bill which was unanimously passed by the Senate did not go through the House and that journey was wasted. It began the journey again in this assembly, now it has again gone to the committee in the Senate but the question again is if it gets a third reading in the Senate will it go through the House in the life of this assembly? And here is a bill that would have provided a legal framework to deal with Boko Haram and others who prey on young Nigerian girls. If you have strong laws punishing those things it is going to be a restraint on others, but you see that bill is stuck somewhere. One of the most important bills that I have been part of is the Occupational Health and Safety Bill. The bill is the answer to the abuse of Nigerian workers in the work place. It is a law protecting the Nigerian worker in the workplace and the workplace starts from a home where you have a given number of people, small businesses where people are exposed to all kinds of situations. Even in the farms where farm helps are spraying chemicals unprotected, building construction sites where people are working without helmets and all that. The Senate has passed that bill for more than one and a half years now and it has been sent to the House but the House has not responded and has not even scheduled.

Why has the House not responded?

I dont know, maybe it is their own internal administrative issue or they have a number of bills, I dont know.

You have covered the National Assembly as a reporter and now you are a senator. Is there a change in your perception of the National Assembly? Is it really a place that flows with Ghana Must Go?

Well that was not my perception. In my time as a correspondent I didnt see it as a place that free money went round at that time. At that time democracy was quite new and the quality of people in the National Assembly was not quite as high as the people you have now. Then, you saw a number of people who were out of place and the debate was not as rich. So, when you saw those who spoke well and debated intelligently, they were the superstars and you were in awe of such persons. Debating intelligently At that time you had a lot of farmers and all sorts of people in the House of Representatives and people whose backgrounds did not really prepare them well for the job and so, you saw them following their leader and doing whatever their leader said they did, but now, you have young men and women who know their onions and who have been educated well and who have quite some experience. In the Senate you have phenomenally well experienced and well prepared people but if in the end the result as good as has been expected, then there must be something in the internal processes that makes it impossible for us to get the best out of these people.

You are chairman of the Senate Committee on Navy. Has the Navy under your oversight made any contribution to the war in the Northeast?

We are not supposed to reveal all these, but the navy from the beginning has been involved in anti-terrorism because the navy has a corp of personnel that I want to say are the best trained for anti-terrorism and they were trained by American Navy SEALS. They have been there and they are there and they are contributing and play a very pivotal role.

Are you concerned over what some regard as the early retirement age of Nigerian military officials?

I personally, have very serious concerns over this issue. A lot of our strong men, a lot of our well prepared officers and men are being sent out of the force because they have reached the age of retirement and we spent a lot of money training many of these people abroad and we dont get to use them. I think we have to do something so that well trained persons can be retained in the system and institutional memory that is necessary to have continuity and to make progress can be preserved. In the last three years that I have been chairman of navy we have had three chiefs of naval staff. Thats too much. For a nation that is facing challenges you cannot afford to continue to change leadership that rapidly because each time you change, you lose momentum.

Any particular challenge you face being a woman in the Senate?

No! Absolutely no! Let me tell you the first time I became conscious that I was a woman was during the time of Abacha when I was arrested and when a soldier said you are a woman. Before that when I worked in NTA, I used to fly in helicopters, I used to go in ships and do all sorts of things and did jobs that many of my male colleagues were a little bit afraid to do. In the Senate there is no such thing as a man or woman there, it is the job.

You have returned to the PDP in Imo State.

Yes.

Yobo Reveals Super Eagles Plans For Bosnia

Captain of the Super Eagles Joseph Yobo has spoken exclusively to Hip TV how the team will file out against Bosnia on Saturday. According to the skipper, the Eagles will not fall for the mind games that the Bosnians might throw at them during the decisive match. He also said that the Super Eagles will be disciplined as usual, and do go out for a victory.

Read the transcription and Watch the clip below

Reporter: How will the boys handle the antics that the Bosnians throw at us to frustrate us and get us to pick up cards and fight ourselves on the pitch.

Joseph Yobo: we’ve been able to handle that in the first game and we’ll continue to do the same. Sometimes players lose their mind when the pressure is much, they’re fighting because they want to win. So long as it doesn’t affect the team, it’s going to be because you have to fight to win.

Anyone who’s playing mind games, they alone know how far mind games are going to get them because I believe at this stage in the tournament, it’s all about football and mind games are going to get you into trouble but we are going to be disciplined as usual and just let football do the talking. We need your support and we’ll do our very best to make Nigeria proud.

At a drug enforcement conference in Rome, Pope Francis condemned the current trend of marijuana legalization in different parts of the world.
The head of the Roman Catholic Church said legalizing marijuana “won’t bring any positive results,” and that the motive for legalizing the drug was “highly questionable,”  The Washington Times reports.
The 77-year-old pontiff’s comments come just as Uruguay approved the selling of marijuana cigarettes in pharmacies and the legalization of recreational marijuana use in Washington and Colorado

“Half of a Yellow Sun” Distributor replies NFVCB In New Statement

Half of a Yellow Sun - June 2014 - BellaNaija.com 01
BN brought to you yesterday the latest update on the “Half of a Yellow Sun” movie.
The National Film and Video Censors Board has conveyed to the production team that parts of the movie should be edited out. If you missed it, click here to read.
This evening, the distributor of Half of a Yellow Sun FilmOne Distribution Limited sent BN an official statement regarding the recent reply from NFVCB.
Read;
May I use this opportunity to comment on the Statement below released to the press and general public on Thursday 19th June 2014 by Caesar Kagho on behalf of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), with respect to the classification process for the film “Half of a Yellow Sun”.
Firstly I would like to correct the information stated in several paragraphs of this statement that the NFVCB communicated to the exhibitor of the movie. The NFVCB does NOT relate nor communicate with an exhibitor with respect to film classification. It is the film’s distributor not an exhibitor that applies for classification and communicates with the Board on classification issues.
FilmOne Distribution Limited is the distributor of HOAYS whilst Filmhouse Cinemas is a film exhibitor like others including Silverbird Cinemas and Genesis Deluxe Cinemas. This kind of misunderstanding of roles is why certain quarters of the industry claim that the Board does not understand the film industry.
The NFVCB wrote to Filmhouse Cinemas on the 27th of May (not to FilmOne) in response to several correspondence sent to it by FilmOne Distribution, requiring certain parts of certain scenes to be edited.
Contrary to the impression given by the statement, FilmOne (not Filmhouse Cinemas) has been in communication with the Board in response. In addition, FilmOne spoke to the Board on the 17th of June and arranged a meeting for the 18th in Abuja.
At this meeting (attended by the DG NFVCB, 3 NFVCB Directors/Heads including the writer of the NFVCB press statement, and the MD FilmOne) FilmOne broke down the financial consequence of making edits, re-mastering and re-printing of copies of the film and its resultant effect on the commercial viability of the film’s cinema release in Nigeria.
Nevertheless, FilmOne presented to the Board edited scenes in accordance with the Board’s requirement. The Board watched these edited scenes and expressed their satisfaction with the edits. The Board then stated to the MD FilmOne that they would meet and communicate this officially.
It was then a surprise to FilmOne distribution to see a Press Statement released on the 19th of June (a day after this meeting) claiming that:
“It is note-worthy that since the correspondence from the Board to the Exhibitor, a response is yet to be received that may facilitate further regulatory actions as may be deemed necessary”
And
“Once the areas highlighted are resolved, the NFVCB as a regulator shall communicate a rating of the film as may be deemed appropriate”.
I would like to state that despite the additional costs associated with editing, re-mastering and re-printing, as at Wednesday 18th June, FilmOne in conjunction with the film producers, have satisfied this edit requirements by the NFVCB and are now looking forward to receiving an official classification from the Board.
I am therefore at a loss as to the intention of the public statement released by NFVCB. We found this highly unnecessary and does not “set the records straight on the status of the movie”.
I am truly glad that the NFVCB is now satisfied with the effort we have made to meet the requirement they asked for. We now look forward to announcing a new release date for “Half of a Yellow Sun”.
Signed,
Kene Mkparu

2 women jailed 5 months each for slapping a police man in Abuja

An Upper Area court in Zuba, FCT, on Wednesday sentenced two women – Binta Mamman, 35, and Safiya Aliyu, 19, both of Deidei, Abuja, to five months imprisonment for slapping a police man. The women had also been charged with using abusive language and public nuisance. Malam Aminu Sa’ad, the presiding judge, handed down the sentence after the women pleaded guilty to the three-count charge of criminal force and assault, use of abusive language and public nuisance. Sa’ad ruled that on the first count of criminal force and assault, the convicts shall serve a jail term of one month each without an option of fine. Continue... He, however, gave them an option of N20,000 fine each for the other two counts charge including the use of abusive language and public nuisance, and declared the terms would run consecutively. Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Momoh Ibrahim, had told the court that on June 14, 2014, the convicts were arrested for using insulting language on the person of a police officer, one Cpl. Abraham Omageni of Deidei police station. Ibrahim said the convicts also slapped Omageni. The prosecutor told the court that their offences contravened the provisions of the Penal Code.

Ekiti 2014: APC Lies To Nigerians On Kano Governor’s Air Travel

Ekiti 2014: APC lies to Nigerians on Kano governor’s air travel APC said, “At least three Governors – Adams Oshiomhole of Edo, Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers and Rabiu Kwankwanso of Kano – have so far been prevented from making the trip” The claim by the All Progressives Congress, APC, that federal officials prevented the plane carrying the Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, from landing in Akure is false, PREMIUM TIMES can reveal. At the time the APC was claiming that the Kano governor was being barred from getting to Ekiti, the spokesperson of the governor told PREMIUM TIMES his boss was in Kano and had no plans to travel to Ekiti. The APC, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, claimed Mr. Kwankwaso and two other APC governors, Adams Oshiomhole of Edo and Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers, were barred from getting to Ekiti to support Governor Kayode Fayemi’s re-election bid. “At least three Governors – Adams Oshiomhole of Edo, Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers and Rabiu Kwankwanso of Kano – have so far been prevented from making the trip,” Mr. Mohammed said. The spokesperson added that “the helicopter that was to ferry Governor Oshiomhole from Benin to Ado-Ekiti was refused permission to take off from the Benin Airport, while the plane that was flying Gov. Kwankwanso to Akure was denied permission to land”. Ekiti has no airport and so travellers by air have to first land at Akure (neighbouring Ondo State) airport, then travel by road to Ekiti. When the news of the denial first spread on Thursday, PREMIUM TIMES called the Director of Press Affairs to Mr. Kwankwaso, Baba Dantiye, who said his boss had no plans to travel to Ekiti. Mr. Dantiye said Mr. Kwankwaso was at an event in Kano State and had no plans of travelling to Ekiti State. “The governor is in Kano here; he did not have plans of going to Akure, none that I know of,” Mr. Dantiye said. Perhaps realising that his party had released a statement to the contrary, Mr. Dantiye called back to say he was at an event with the governor and would not “want to confirm or deny” the APC’s claim. PREMIUM TIMES learnt that the event the Kano governor attended in Kano on Thursday was the graduation of 1120 mechanics and vulcanisers from the 44 local governments of the state. Supporters of the governor posted pictures of the event on facebook. Not all lies While the APC apparently lied on Mr. Kwakwanso’s situation, the party’s claim that Mr. Amaechi was prevented from getting to Ekiti is true. PREMIUM TIMES reported a statement by the Rivers State government that Mr. Amaechi was stopped from getting to Ekiti by road after his plane landed in Akure. The governor was then detained by soldiers for several minutes before he was allowed to return to Akure but not to Ekiti to campaign for Mr. Fayemi in the Ekiti election that holds on Saturday. “Governor Amaechi was ambushed and refused entry into Ekiti by military personnel acting on orders from above. He made to turn back and return to Akure where his chattered aircraft was parked but was chased and rounded by armed soldiers and security personnel in Odudu, Ondo state. According to the captain who led the operation, he had orders not to allow the governor entry or exit,” the Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Ibim Semenitari, said. The spokesperson to the Edo State governor, Peter Ohiare, also told PREMIUM TIMES that Mr. Oshiomhole’s aircraft was barred from leaving Benin airport. Mr. Ohiare said he was informed of the air travel ban by the Commander 81 Maritime Crew, Benin City. The spokesperson of aviation agencies had told PREMIUM TIMES that the military had the power to regulate Nigeria’s airspace even without the permission of the civilian agencies. Military reacts When contacted on why soldiers detained Mr. Amaechi, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Army, Olajide Laleye, denied that the incident occurred. “That’s ridiculous, on what grounds? How could the military have arrested the governors? That’s not true, there was no arrest,” Mr. Laleye, a Brigadier General, said. The military and the Nigerian Police have pledged to ensure security during the Ekiti election; but have been accused of aiding Nigeria’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The three major candidates in the election are Mr. Fayemi of the APC, Ayo Fayose of the PDP, and Opeyemi Bamidele of the Labour Party. But Governor Amaechi himself confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES that he was detained by soldiers who barred him from travelling to Ekiti. His aides later said he was released and allowed to return to Akure but that his plane remained impounded.

Diezani N10 Billion Jet Saga: Probe Postponed

The public hearing on the alleged N10 billion spent by Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, to charter and maintain private jets, has been postponed. According to reports, the hearing was scheduled to begin yesterday, June 17, however; the Committee on Public Accounts abruptly shifted the hearing to June 26. The reason for the postponement is reportedly because the House is still observing its “end of session break,” and full activities will not resume until June 24. “Most members are not available now and it is wise to give them at least two days after resumption to prepare fully for the proceedings. This explains the decision of the committee to consider June 26 as the ideal date to resume the investigation,” said a source. However, a National Assembly official is alleging that the committee is yet to be funded to start the hearing, according to Punch . “The key stakeholders too such as the minister, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company are also not helping matters. “They do not want the hearing to take place and we can understand why they keep running from one court to another in their hope to frustrate the committee,” said the official.

Eagles Paid $10,000 Bonus For Iran Draw

Sao Paulo, Brazil — The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has paid to the Super Eagles $10,000 match bonus instead of $5,000 bonus they should have received for playing 0-0 draw with Iran at the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba on Monday. It will be recalled that the NFF had agreed to pay the players $5,000 bonus for draw and $10,000 for outright win. A dependable source close to the NFF secretariat here told Daily Trust yesterday that the match bonus was paid to the players immediately after the match, which many criticised the Super Eagles of putting up a mediocre performance. Our source who pleaded anonymity, said the leadership of the Glass House took the decision to motivate the players to do better in their last two group games against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Argentina. "Yesterday's (Monday) game is a great set back to Nigeria and the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation. However, in an effort to motivate the players and ensure that Nigeria advance from the group, NFF paid the players what is supposed to be a winning bonus even though the team drew against Iran. "The secretariat staff was ordered to pay each of the players 10,000 dollars, which in a normal case is a winning bonus, and the money was paid to them immediately after the match," our source said. The source also said that the coaching crew led by Stephen Keshi and other backroom staff were equally paid winning bonus for the match. The Super Eagles will on Saturday take on Bosnia & Herzegovina at Arena Pantanal Cuiaba in their second Group F.

Lagos Man Allegedly Attacks Ghanaian with Machete for Mocking Super Eagles

After the Nigeria vs. Iran World Cup match that ended in a scoreless draw, many fans of the Super Eagles were upset about the outcome of the game. However, one man Sunday Usman, was so upset, that he allegedly attacked some viewers, including a Ghanaian for mocking the Nigerian team for their inability to score a goal, Vanguard reports. Usman was reportedly drunk when he attacked the fans on Monday night at a football viewing center in the Ilasan area of Lekki, Lagos. The Ghanaian fan named Kofi, was said to have sustained deep cuts while others managed to escape from the viewing centre. According to an eyewitness account, here is how the incident occurred: “…Kofi, started booing the Super Eagles over their failed attempts to score a goal. Usman staggered to his feet and warned Kofi to stop showing solidarity with Iran. But Kofi continued, saying he had every right to support whichever team he liked. Some viewers, who were also not satisfied with the Super Eagles performance, supported Kofi. Usman left the bar, threatening to deal with Kofi . We all thought he had gone to sleep. But to our surprise, he came at the tail end of the match, dangling a cutlass which he used on anyone at sight. Kofi could not escape. He had the deepest cut. We all fled for our lives and by the time we summoned courage and disarmed the drunk, Kofi was found on the ground in a pool of his blood.” Kofi was reportedly rushed to a private hospital, where he is responding to treatment.

IMO BOMB AND THE APC

Onwuasoanya Fcc Jones .On sunday, God made it possible for the Police to defuse bombs planted in one of the biggest Protestant Churches in Owerri, the Imo State capital. On Monday about 446 suspected boko haram criminals were intercepted by the military as they headed to PH, the Rivers State capital. Can we please think with our heads for once? APC is certainly the political wing of boko haram. IMO is an APC State, Rivers is also an APC State. But why will a political Party be killing the people it is trying to lead all in a bid to live up to its mandate of making the country ungovernable for our President. A VOTE FOR APC IS A VOTE FOR BOKO HARAM

10 Good Reasons To Break Up

by calvin 1. You know the relationship has no long-term potential. After dating for a while, if you realize that the relationship will eventually run its course, ending it is likely the best thing for both of you. You want to find someone who will be in it for the long haul. 2. The relationship has run its course. Maybe you didn’t get out early enough. Get out now. When the relationship feels over, let it be over. Don’t cling to it just because you’ve wasted so much time on it already. 3. You’ve been hurt physically or emotionally. Some damage can’t be undone. Staying in an abusive relationship will only deepen those wounds with time, it won’t heal them. Seek professional help if you’re not sure how to leave. 4. You’ve been cheated on, or you’ve cheated. Rarely can dating relationships rebound from infidelity. Let him/her go. 5. Someone else is on your mind. Do. Not. Cheat. If you’re constantly wishing your significant other was someone else — or that you could date other people — take the high road and end the relationship before things get messy. 6. Everyone else is rallying against the relationship If your friends and family — people who are generally trustworthy and supportive — hate your relationship, listen to them. Sometimes outsiders have better perspectives of an unhealthy relationship than those in it. 7. Your values don’t align. Sure, you both like Thai food, reggae and Christopher Nolan films. But if all you have in common is the little stuff, the relationship is going to be stunted. If you know that you don’t agree on things like family, faith and finances, it’s okay to end things amicably so that you can both find people who have similar priorities. 8. You’re not happy — and haven’t been for a very long time. Every relationship has its ups and downs. But if you can’t remember the last time either of you laughed or had a great time together, assess the health of your relationship. Are you staying because you want to? Or just because you’re stubborn? 9. You feel uneasy about the relationship. If you’re constantly trying to convince yourself to stay, maybe you shouldn’t. Trust your intuition. 10. You’re not growing together Neither of you are at your best when you’re together. There’s no personal growth, you don’t feel good about yourself when you’re with your significant other and you’re no longer thriving. A healthy relationship brings out the best in both partners. What was your reason for ending a relationship? Looking back, was it the right decision?
