Don’t hide under religion to cause problem –Fashola

Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, has called on the Christian and Muslim communities in the country to avoid using the instrument of religion to cause disharmony among themselves.
Fashola, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Christian Religious Matters, Rev. Adefunmilayo Akitoye—Buraimo, said this in his address to the 53rd Annual Synod of the Methodist Diocese of Lagos on Friday.
The governor said the support of the religious community is important to the implementation of government policies.
According to him, it is important that Christians and Muslims shun any action that may cause unnecessary disturbance of peace during the electioneering.
“We as a government see our religious communities as partners in governance because they are saddled with the responsibility of admonishing the congregation to be law abiding and obey laws of God as contained in the holy writ,” he said.
The governor stated that the synod was important because of the fact that it precedes the country’s general election.
“Our country will be better if we put what we read in our holy books to practice,” Fashola said
