Due to a drastic slump in oil prices and inflation in Venezuela, the prices of basic commodities have skyrocketed.
As a result, the price of a box of condoms has skyrocketed to £500 (N149,353), Daily Mail reports.
The supply of condoms and birth control
pills has declined sharply, as a result; they have become incredibly
scarce. Consequently, the pharmacies and locations that do have them in
stock sell them at exorbitant prices.
According to reports, “boxes now cost 85 percent of the average monthly salary in the South American nation.”
This has forced Venezuelans to buy their contraception online, especially via a site called Mercado Libre, which is similar to eBay.
