IMSU HOSTELS AND LANDLORDS

By Chikaodi 200l masscom 13/1/15
Life is gradually returning to the environment of Imo state university Owerri which was deserted due to the xmas break, as full academic activities resumes , business owners around the school  premises are now coming back and students are  also preparing for the new aca
demic session. This period also seems to be the booming season for Landlords and hostel owners, as they use this period to make lots of money from students.
Hostel has been a vital challenge to the students especially due to the exorbitant prices paid by the students.  A one room self contain at IMSU front and extension gates ranges from 120,000 to 180,000, an interview with Benson a 200level student geography living in front gate told Imsurealgist that front gate hostels are the hottest cake due to the fact that students living there need not bother about transporting themselves to school as it is just opposite the school gate, and the security is better compared to other areas.
Reaching to the other hostel axis as the BackGate or Aladinma which are known for its constant light and water, hostels ranges from 100,000 to 150,000 for one room self contain, an interview with Chigozie a  final year student of history said the Landlord sent all of their inmates packing in view of hiking the hostel fees when school resumes, and he also blamed the inability of the school having its own hostel and called on those in authority to come to the aid of the students…..
