Why I’ve Become Obasanjo’s Target For Blackmail – Kashamu

OBJ-KashamuThe Chairman, Mobilisation Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southwest, Prince Buruji Kashamu, has again denied being indicted in the United States for drug-related offences.
Kashamu was reacting to a statement credited to former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday in which he reiterated his stance not to have anything to do with PDP until something was done about having an indicted drug baron – in apparent reference to Kashamu – as the party’s leader in the Southwest.
In a counter-response last night, the PDP chieftain said: “My attention has been drawn to yet another diatribe against my person by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in what was supposed to be his response to the pleas made to him to come back to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“His statement is yet another cocktail of lies served with his legendary deceit”.
“He said he was displeased at my allegedly being made the leader of the party in the South West. First, it should be noted that as against his earlier assertion that I am ‘a wanted habitual criminal…for whom extradition has been requested by the US Government…’ he has now described me ‘as an indicted drug baron wanted in America’.
According to Kashamu, the former president used him to prosecute his battles against former Governor Gbenga Daniel. He, however, noted that “When it was time to field candidates for the 2011 general elections, he brought his stooge, Gen. Adetunji Olurin, and asked me to roll the party structure behind his anointed candidate”.
The Southwest PDP leader continued: “In his usual holier-than-thou manner, he talked about not being able to work with me because of his principles, honour and integrity. But the questions Nigerians should ask him are: where were his principles when he used to take me into the inner recesses of his abode? Where was his honour when he served me breakfast, lunch and dinner in his Hilltop mansion? Where was his integrity when he mounted the rostrum to sing my praises, praying for me as he did in May 2010 during a reception for the former Minister of Commerce and Industry, Senator Jubril Martins-Kuye?
“Despite his pretensions, the reason I have become the target of Obasanjo’s wicked campaign of calumny and blackmail is his perceived loss of political relevance in Ogun State and the South West. He is against the second term ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan and he had wanted to use the erstwhile National Secretary, Olagunsoye Oyinlola; the former National Auditor, Bode Mustapha and the ex-National Vice-Chairman, Segun Oni, to thwart Mr. President’s re-election. The almighty Allah Subhana wa tala used me to stand up to him and the rest is history.
“Before his very eyes the PDP in the South West is on a rebound and we are winning elections.
“Now, on the issue of my so-called indictment in the United States, I wish to state for the umpteenth time that I am not wanted by anyone. Even if that were the case, there are processes and procedures to follow, and they are not subject to anyone’s whims and caprices, not even Obasanjo’s because no man is God.
“I have never in stepped my feet into the U.S neither do I have any business there. I was wrongly accused, arrested, tried and freed over the same indictment. If after a full trial on the basis of the same indictment, the British courts exonerated me, which other indictment is Obasanjo talking about? What happens to the general principle of International Law on double-jeopardy?” Kashamu asked.

Ebonyi 2015: Opposition Mounts Against Health Minister’s Consensus Candidature

minister-of-health-professor-onyebuchi-chukwu-3338883As opposition continues to mount against the endorsement of Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu as gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, some PDP members in the state have described his adoption as shocking and unacceptable.
The PDP members, under the aegis of Concerned Citizens of Ebonyi State lamented at a press briefing in Abuja that it was uncharitable for the governor of the state, Martin Elechi and a handful of people “to impose somebody on the people of Ebonyi state”.
Dr. Jerry Uhuo, who spoke on behalf of the group over the weekend, said Chukwu is “believed to be unknown to be a PDP card-carrying member, adding that because he is a “minister does not qualify him to step in as a gubernatorial candidate in a carefully orchestrated imposition exercise”.
He added: “we wish to state unequivocally and to inform all Nigerians, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP, and all well-meaning people of goodwill, that the stakeholders, youths and leaders of thought of Ebonyi State in the state chapter of the PDP will go ahead to conduct party primaries for PDP for PDP members and whosoever emerges will enjoy the support of the party members in Ebonyi State”.
He continued; “the essence of democracy is to give people freedom. Even when consensus becomes necessary, you will still bring that person before the people and test his popularity, you don’t impose somebody on the people”.
The spokesman, however, added that if Chukwu is coming out for elections, he must come out with intimidating credentials.
“A man who sacked resident doctors while he was CMD of Ebonyi State Teaching Hospital, he has a huge problem which also forced him out of the hospital.
“If NMA is not a strong body, his sack of 16,000 medical doctors would have stood today, but is it good? Is it what he will offer the people?” Dr. Uhuo asked.

Liberian Health Workers set to Embark on Strike Amidst Ebola Epidemic

Ebola
Liberian health workers are planning to embark on a strike amidst the country’s Ebola epidemic.
BBC reports that the National Health Workers Association is demanding an increase in the monthly risk fee paid to workers treating Ebola patients.
The country’s authorities state that although they would love to meet the association’s demands, they are currently unable to do so, as the scale of the epidemic makes it difficult for them to pay the initial risk fee promised.
According to reports, staff are demanding a risk fee of $700 per month, which is the amount earlier agreed on. However, they are currently being paid a risk fee of under $500 per month, in addition to basic salaries ranging from between $200-300.
In addition to the increased risk fee, workers are requesting for insurance and personal protective gear.
The country’s health officials are pleading with workers not to go on strike, as this would worsen the epidemic, and hinder progress already being made to contain the virus.
Sources say 95% of the workers’ colleagues have died from Ebola.

Agbaso: APGA In Diaspora Collapses Into PDP

The mass defection of the entire Executive, with the Apex Leader, Nze Victor Uzoma and about 98% of the members of APGA Germany has triggered a sudden collapse of the chapter into People’s Democratic Party PDP.
In an exclusive interview with ‘The African Courier,’ a Germany based magazine, in which the following defected officials were present:
Nze Victor Chikwendu Uzoma (Ifo-ego Nkwere), the APGA Apex Leader Germany/Europe Co-ordinator Ahamefule; the Secretary General APGA Germany/Co-ordinator Ahamefula Germany,Sir Edward Morgan G; Regional Co-ordinator APGA Germany/PRO Ahamefula Germany, Chief Benjamin Chinaka and the Treasurer APGA Germany/Secretary-Treasurer Ahamefule Germany,Sir Modestus Korieocha.
The above stated high profile Apga chieftain/stake holder cited this change as (among other reasons) a worthwhile demonstration of solidarity with their leader, Ochoudo Chief Martin Agbaso; a man they described as a blueprint, a sine-qua-non and a political bulldozer that opens doors and gateways of progress. With his exit and resulting exodus of uncountable followers, the Party (APGA) stands now with arms akimbo like the statue of an unknown soldier, being stripped of its ranks and jackets.
When asked about their next line of action in PDP
, Nze Victor Chikwendu Uzoma(Ife-ego Nkwere) and other stakeholders present had merely added with a gesture of confidence, ‘Wise men had always followed their star.’

Campaign Coordinator Dumps Okorocha As Okemili, OkaforAnyanwu, Others Join PDP Today in Oru East

By onyekachi eze
Entering the peak of the electioneering Campaign and period when party members ought to be strong in their respective parties, yet defection looms in some of the parties, especially the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Imo State under the full surveillance of Governor Rochas Okorocha.
Governor Okorocha’s camp suffered a major setback on Tuesday when one of his campaign Coordinators and a strong APC facilitator in Aboh Mbaise LGA, Hon. Lucky Charles dumped APC for the PDP.
Charles, a prominent politician from Enyiogugu ward was one of the Campaign Council members of Olamha in 2011 election and later appointed member of the Mayoral Affairs of Owerri zone headed by Chief Uche Njoku before their dissolution.
At an elaborate event held at the house of the party chairman, Jude Awulonu at Ulakwo, Enyiogugu, Lucky Charles rejoined PDP. The event witnessed the presence of PDP chieftains in the area including Chief Austin Papa Nwokorie and member representing the state constituency in the House of Assembly, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Pat Ekeji.
In his speech, Lucky Charles noted that he is retracing steps to PDP to join forces with others in taking the party to greater heights adding that as a true democrat, PDP is the right party to follow.
Admonishing Lucky Charles for finding his way back, Austin Papa, a leader of the party in the area stated that the exercise marks another great turning point for the ward and Aboh Mbaise PDP as all forces have come together under one umbrella.
Information reaching Trumpeta indicates that yesterday at the central school field, Omuma in Oru East Local Government Area, Imo State, another set of political shakers from the area moved to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State Rally of the Local Government to be honoured by the state working Committee in the Sensitization Rally held across the states.
Leading the decampees include the past APGA State Chairman, and immediate past APC Chairman of Imo State, Prince Marshall Okaforanyanwu, the Honourable member representing Oru East Constituency in Imo State House of Assembly under APGA, Hon. Greg. Okemili, APC Apex Leader High Chief Marcellinus Okoro (Ugwumba), Dr. Nwanebu with over 4,000 members who chised PDP as their last resort.
Apparently, some of the APC members who invariably heard of the defection of these staunch members are still in doubt, while tongues kept on wagging on the reasons behind Prince Marshal’s joining to PDP, instead of going back to the All Progressive Grand Alliance which he has chaired in the past.
Sources also revealed that Okaforanyanwu joined PDP following Governor Okorocha’s assault and non consultation before removing him from the seat as the APC interim Chairman, which they opined that the sore according to them is still fresh and bleeding in Okaforanyanwu’s heart. While also, insinuation had it that Okaforanyanwu have the intention to climb higher in the PDP family through his Omuma brother who also is in the red carpet chamber of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Hope Uzodimma. In his own accord, the APC decampee, Okaforanyanwu added that he is going to PDP with all his leaders under him and uncountable supporters, and will not leave APC with any of his supporters behind.
Similarly, among others included Hon. Barr. Okemili who is said to have an ambition on 2015 hoping optimistically that with the PDP, he will make a head way without hitches.

78 Year old Politician in Ondo Dies While having Sex with 30 Year old Lover

AccusedA 78-year-old politician in Ondo State died after having sex with his 30-year-old hairdresser lover on September 30th.
The politician named Adedayo Deru, was a married man, and was having extra-marital affairs with the hairdresser, Ijimo Ibrahim, Daily Post reports.
Following the incident, Ibrahim, who is a mother of two, reportedly dumped Deru’s body by a roadside. She has since been arrested. Here is what she told police:
“He only came for sex in the mornings so that his wife would not suspect.
There was a day I was with him. We had sex but the wife caught us. So, I had to leave the town shortly after. I went to Lagos to work as an apprentice hairdresser.
When we reconnected after I got back from Lagos, we continued our love affair secretly because he was always there when I needed help. He came as usual on September 30 around 9am. I was on my way out of the house; I was going to work already that day. But he met me as I got out of the door and said he was visiting me.
I told him I could spare some hours before I left for work, so I went back inside with him. As soon as we got in, he stripped and I did the same. It was just one round of sex that we had and I don’t know why that could have killed him. Our lovemaking was not even that long. He started complaining that he was not feeling fine. He said he was feeling tired and dizzy. Shortly after, he collapsed and stopped breathing”.
My brother (the relation) told me to calm down, promising to come to my aid later that afternoon so that we could decide on what to do. But when I did not see him by evening, I realized he had run away and switched off his mobile telephone in fear.
We thought if I reported to the police, I would be in serious trouble. I didn’t know.”
An okada (motorcyclist), named Benjamin Friday, has also been arrested. He reportedly helped in dumping Deru’s body by the roadside. However, he insists that he was unaware that he was helping to dispose a corpse, as Ibrahim had told him the man was just critically ill.
A photographer, Funmilayo Moyegun, has also been taken into police custody in connection with the case. She alleges that Ibrahim hired her to take photographs of the deceased.
“I only held the lamp when the body was being dumped”, she said.
The corpse was dumped 100 metres away from Ibrahim’s house on Oladipo Diya Road, Odogbolu.

Chris Brown Visits Music Choice's "You & A"
Chris Brown has taken to his Twitter page this morning to share his thoughts on the Ebola Virus Disease that has been raging in different parts of the world and doing a lot of damage recently.
With over 4000 deaths in West Africa confirmed by the World Health Organization, it is understandable that there has been fear and panic after it was announced that the virus was discovered in the United States a few days ago.
Chris Brown, who just recently put out his “X” album, tweeted: “I don’t know … But I think this Ebola epidemic is a form of population control. Shit is getting crazy bruh.”
