The 72 year old man and 60 year old woman who have been living together for more than 45 years without bride price and marriage were joined in Holy Matrimony, Saturday, February 20 at Omega Power Ministries, Port Harcourt.
The church announced the good news on their Facebook page, adding that they bankrolled the weddings of other 140 couples who have been living together for many years without legal marriage. They provided money for the bride price, wedding gown for brides, suit, shirt and even ties for the grooms absolutely free of charge.

“Why did I decide to do this ?” the Pastor asked.

“Every day I get sleepless night because of the amount of people living together when God has not joined them. IT IS A SIN BEFORE GOD. Do you know that; one out of every five people you see in the street are living together without being legally married,” he said.

“If Rapture happens now , they will all miss Rapture. So what is the solution ? Solution Number one: Couples must Live apart until you get money to WED. Which is very risky. Any of those women can be my sister or maybe she already has 5 children. The woman will suffer. And a strange woman may take advantage to come in. Solution number two: Legalise their union. But many don’t have money to legalize it. They already have children, but no money to pay bride price. So that is why I decided to intervene, so when Rapture happens they shall not be found wanting.

“What is a church building when the people inside the building have visa to go to Hell-fire. Salvation is better than beautiful church building.This is why I conducted marriage blessing for 140 couples @ OPM headquarters. By the grace of God, I gave them money to pay bride price which they have traveled and come back after paying.

I bought wedding suits and gowns including shirts and tie for 140 couples. Paid for marriage certificate and paid for food, drinks that will be used for their reception. Now I can sleep well knowing that extra 140 souls have been added to the kingdom of God.”

Anambra State Police Command paraded a 22-year-old man, Chigozie Ugwu for stealing 52 women’s underwear has said he indulges in the act to satisfy his sexual urge.
Ogwu said he had no girlfriend and felt like he was having sexual intercourse any time he picks a woman’s pant, even as he pleaded that the police should release him.

The suspect claimed he was not aware that his action was an offence until security operatives arrested him.
Speaking exclusively with the Southern City News, Ugwu said, “I didn’t know that it was an offence to take women’s pants. I don’t have any girlfriend. So, each time I am with any woman’s underwear, I feel like I am making love.
“That’s why I go about picking and keeping women’s pants. I didn’t know it was an offence until the police arrested me. Please, tell them to release me. I didn’t intend to steal those things. I think, it’s a spiritual problem,” he said.
Ugwu was among the 15 suspected cult members and armed robbers paraded at the state’s command headquarters last week.
He was also said to be involved in burglary and stealing from a shop of items valued at N500,000 along Emma Nnaemeka Street in Awka, the state capital.
Parading the suspects, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ali Okechukwu, thanked the people of the state for availing the police of useful information that resulted in the successes recorded by the command.

ArmsDeal Looters will still face prosecution despite stolen funds returned – EFCC Boss, Magu

 

Mr. Ibrahim Magu, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, says the anti-graft agency will prosecute those suspected to have benefitted from the $2.1bn arms fund even after they have returned stolen money to the national treasury.
Magu, in The Interview magazine’s February edition, was responding to a question on whether the EFCC would enter into plea bargaining with suspects or waive prosecution if stolen funds were returned.
He said the priority of the EFCC was to recover the diverted arms funds.

He said, “What matter, first and foremost, is for everyone involved in the arms scandal   to return the money he or she may have collected. That does not preclude such suspects from facing prosecution.”
The EFCC chairman said the desire for illicit wealth among public office holders was one of the major reasons why corruption had been on the rise in the country.
Magu said Nigerians should be outraged by the amount of money originally set aside for the war against   Boko Haram, which was diverted for personal use.
The EFCC chairman said allegations against the commission that its anti-corruption war was politically-motivated was a proof that corruption was already fighting back.
He said, “Political offices in Nigeria are too attractive. This encourages a rat race of a sort. Also, the judiciary, which is the last resort, has allegedly been complicit, making civil servants who have been found guilty of corruption feel confident to poke the law in the face and go scot-free.
“There should be a national outrage by now. There is something wrong with our values. Corruption has been celebrated over the years.”

Woman marries 2 cats after her last relationship ended in heartache

For 48-year-old web designer Barbarella Buchner, finding another man after her seven-year relationship ended was the last thing on her mind – because she believes she’s found happiness, companionship and emotional fulfilment with… her cats.

Incredible as it sounds, Barbarella thinks she’s found not one, but two soulmates in the form of her male cats, Spider and Lugosi. Her devotion to them is so strong that 10 years ago she even married them in an online ceremony.

"They’re the loves of my life," she claims. "I have no regrets and I don’t care what people say."
Cat-mad Barbarella has always been an animal lover. "As a child I was surrounded by cats," she says. "Our family regularly owned at least one or two. They were my favourite animal."

At 34, Barbarella finally got the chance to adopt her own cats, and she took the opportunity very seriously.

"For me, it was like when you know you’re having a baby," she says. "Before you have a baby or adopt a child, you look on the internet to learn as much as possible and read lots of books. That’s what I did before I got my cats."

In March 2000, Barbarella adopted two eight-month-old tabby cats from the same litter at an East London animal shelter.

"It was love at first sight when I laid eyes on my boys, Lugosi and Spider," she recalls. "I’ll never forget that day. They were rubbing against the cage and purring.

"I knew I wanted those cats… I could tell the feeling of love was mutual judging by their purrs and the way they were brushing their little faces against the bars. That was it; they were coming home with me!"

Barbarella – who now lives in Lanzarote – has had a few long-term relationships with men, but never wanted to marry.

She explains, "I didn’t know if I had it in me to be a wife. Some women are built to clean up after their men, and I’m not like that. But I never minded being my cats’ servants. I’m not a submissive person but I’ll do anything for Lugosi and Spider."

Barbarella says the cats were a comfort to her after her most serious relationship with her boyfriend of seven years broke down.

"My ex was the most important person in my life until things stopped working between us," she says. "He’d come home and we’d argue over something, or he’d want to chat when I didn’t want to. We ended up sleeping in separate rooms. I thought there was hope for us but in the end, there wasn’t.

"It was so painful breaking up with him. I cried for weeks after we split up, but the cats really helped me through the process. I would cry into Lugosi and Spider’s fur. They were on the sofa with me all the time and I felt calm.

"After my boyfriend left, Spider and Lugosi were still there for me, helping me get through the separation anxiety and feelings of sadness. I have loved and lived with a couple of partners before but I realised that my love for my fur babies is so much deeper than anything I have felt for a human." 

In 2004, Barbarella decided to make their love official and looked into ways to marry her cats. She found a website called Marryyourpet.com. The site has a list of rules they expect the human marrying their pet to adhere to – such as ‘You are not allowed to mistreat your pet in any way’ – and once Barbarella had been approved and had paid a small fee of about £20, she tied the knot with Lugosi and Spider in a quickie online ceremony, where she clicked on the words ‘I do’.

"Marrying Lugosi and Spider was something I had to do, for myself," she says. "Some people may call me a bigamist for marrying two cats or even call our marriage incest because they’re brothers. But I’ve never been one to care about what other people say or think, especially when it has anything to do with my cats and the unusual relationship I have with them.

"Obviously I don’t have sex with my cats. It’s just pure, spiritual, unconditional love on both sides, as simple as that."

Barbarella spoils her feline hubbies and admits she would happily go bankrupt for them.

"My cats eat better than me. I want them to stay healthy so I’ve put them on a pricey, raw meat diet. Their food is far more expensive than mine.

"One cat’s meals cost £17 per week. I also mix vitamin powder into their food which is £50 per bag. I would take out a loan to save my cats or borrow money if they needed an operation. There’s no limit to what I’d do." 

To celebrate their three-year anniversary, Barbarella got a tattoo of her two tabbies on her right leg.

"I wanted something of Lugosi and Spider on my body. If they died, I would never marry another cat. They’re my first cats and no other cat in the future can change that.

"If a man ever approaches me, I just tell them straight off, “Sorry, I’m married to my cats.” If they think it’s odd, I don’t care." 

Olajumoke Orisaguna: The Nigerian Cinderella By Reuben Abati

Since Olajumoke Orisaguna the bread seller turned model hit the news, it has been all about her.

It has been from one endorsement to one TV show to radio stations.
Now former media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reuben Abati, has written a piece on her.

About three weeks ago, 27-year old Olajumoke Orisaguna was a complete unknown on the streets of Lagos, hawking bread.  A loaf of bread is about N100, and even with a full tray such as she carried in her first public embrace of fame, her whole ware for a day may not be more than N3,000, with daily profit between N300-N700.  She had trained as a hair stylist, got married but had to leave her husband and a daughter back home in Ire, Osun state, to “hustle” as it were in Lagos. 
The life of a bread seller in Lagos is easily imaginable: exposure to the elements, to sundry abuse, including the possibility of being defiled by unruly artisans and bachelors, who will offer to buy bread and something else along with it, if the hawker is willing. This was Olajumoke Orisaguna’s reality until she ran into TY Bello and Tinie Tempah and her life changed. Today, she has been enrolled as a model. Her story has appeared in all newspapers, on CNN, Huffington Post, and virtually everywhere online.
      Two companies: StanbicIBTC and PayPorte have made her their brand ambassador. The former even awarded her two daughters scholarships up to university level. Her face has appeared on the cover of magazines. She is now a student at Poise Finishing School, an intern with two beauty salons, and a motivational speaker, even if she reportedly can’t speak English. When she went to the office of the National Identity Management Commission to get an identity card, NIMC also cashed in on her new found fame to use her to promote the agency: “Olajumoke knows she needs to NIMC. She walked into a NIMC centre yesterday unsolicited. Olajumoke is smart. Be like her.”  This must be the most saccharine endorsement of Olajumoke so far.
       To crown it all, a construction company has given her a luxury apartment in Lagos. From hawking bread in Agege, she is now within weeks, the darling of corporate Nigeria, the poster girl for corporate social responsibility, a landlady, and a role model. She had probably never seen the inside of an aircraft, but a few days ago, she was on a flight to Abuja to give a speech!
       Mrs Orisaguna is Nigeria’s Cinderella. Hers is a sudden, unplanned, unexpected, unprepared for grass to grace, rags to riches story, a kind of I–just-dey-waka-my-own-jeje-luck-come-jam-me-tale. It doesn’t happen everyday.  It is the kind of accident that many Nigerians seek: accidental fame and fortune. It is perhaps the magical, miraculous, I-don’t believe-it-but-it-is-true quality of this story that has captured the public imagination.
       Olajumoke was hawking her bread innocently in Sabo, when she stumbled upon a photo session by that gifted mother of twins, artist and photographer, TY Bello, working on a series of shots for the international hip hop star, Tinie Tempah. We have been told that Olajumoke Orisaguna “photobombed” herself into the activity. I guess she just happened to walk by trying to sell bread, and TY Bello who is a spirit in action when she is at work, had a brain wave and took her picture.  Enormously creative, T Y Bello thinks on her feet. When she has that her big camera in her hands, she is an agile, inventive artist.
       Her camera is a weapon for interpreting space and reality, and for discovering new meanings. It must have occurred to her that asking the international musician to pose with a bread seller would give the picture a much deeper meaning, inherent in the open contrasts and auto-suggestions.  It is that split second decision that has turned Jumoke Orisaguna into a superstar. The shot was brilliant, the result was impressive with people asking: “Who is that girl? She will make a good model.” TY Bello took on the challenge, and became Olajumoke Orisaguna’s promoter, mentor, adviser, godmother, and supporter, taking her to new heights within three weeks. Nobody is talking about Tempah, the main subject of the photo shoot; the focus is on the wanderer who walked onto the set, the bread seller who has taken the bread of the show, the waka-pass who became the star. I understand Tempah is quite happy; don’t be surprised then if he composes a special song soon, titled “The Bread Seller!” or “Photobombed” or simply “Olajumoke.”
     The Olajumoke Orisaguna story is a perfect demonstration of the witchcraft quality of  photography and that single shot that has changed a life may well be one of TY Bello’s most remarkable efforts in her chosen genre.  But I find around Olajumoke’s sudden transformation from person to brand, too much capitalist hypocrisy and opportunism. The brand is selling like hot cake, but the person needs protection. I feel for her. I fear for her. There is a sense in which she is a potential victim.  The brand experts now taking her from place to place probably would not have even patronized her. They don’t eat the kind of bread that she sold.
       Many of them don’t even know what part of Lagos is called Sabo. They don’t buy their bread from hawkers; they would rather go to supermarkets or confectionery stores. Before luck smiled on this young lady, many of those now posing for photos with her would never have noticed her presence. There are definitely many of her type, still hawking bread, or some other items, some even sitting in front of the bank, with a baby strapped to the back, but they may never be noticed or helped. The same companies that are using Olajumoke to talk about corporate social responsibility, are actually joking, they know that this is not CSR; it is brand exploitation!  
      And it may not last. There is nothing in Olajumoke’s background or exposure that has prepared her for the life of glitz being imposed on her.  The skills she has acquired as a bread seller and hair stylist may not carry her far in the cruel world of modeling.  When this blitz is over, she will need to compete for jobs and attention, if she must remain a model. She will have to learn sooner or later, to survive on her own.  She will have to maintain the luxury apartment that she has been given. She has been taught fancy dressing, including the magic of make up and those magical colours that change a dull face into a phallus-teasing one do not come cheap.
        She is at best an art work that other people have created: she has been made up into a siren, her hitherto dull skin now glows, in one photo, her hair had a queenly allure, they have given her new clothes, jazzing her up, to look feminine and sensual, and they have taught her how to smile in a tempting manner. Wow. That smile! The sorry part of it all is that her narrative is quite innocent and hauntingly brief, as is the case with all overnight sensations. The capitalist hypocrites will soon find something else to excite them, just as the media will find a new story. It probably would have been much better to help Olajumoke Orisaguna set up a small-scale business, to take her off the street-life of hawking, rather than this world of sharks into which she has been thrown. Perhaps the best that has been done for her is sending her on internship at beauty salons. She could at least set up a beauty salon of her own and live happily thereafter.
        In a normal society, no young woman should be on the streets hawking bread in order to survive. In a normal society, Olajumoke Orisaguna would have been given the opportunity to go to school, and have a proper career. She is being given, all within three weeks, the kind of empowerment that society has denied her and many like her, but how about all the other Olajumokes who may never “photobomb” their way to luck? Her new life is a reminder of what she could have been but which she could not become because of the kind of society in which she has found herself. She should never have had to hawk bread to support her husband and children.
       Her husband! Yes, Mr. Sunday Orisaguna. I have seen him in the photographs, either carrying their baby, or just putting up appearance. He looks lost, confused, overwhelmed, harassed and uncertain.  He must be wondering what has happened or is happening to the woman he married. There is a clear difference between Olajumoke, the wife and bread seller, and Olajumoke, the model and celebrity. While Olajumoke is beginning to wear designer clothes, her humble husband is still managing his one-day-me-too-go-jam-luck attires. His wife has been sent to finishing school. By the time she finishes, I hope her new persona will not finish her marriage.
      Olajumoke is now learning to speak English, but her husband is a humble, sliding door installer who probably speaks only Yoruba. In our kind of society, given the social level and cultural background of the parties involved, it won’t be long before the demons will begin to crawl out of the woods, from in-laws who may begin to psycho-analyse Olajumoke, to family members who will scrutinize her every gesture, and friends with whom she hawked bread and has now left behind.  
      Lack of clarity over role interpretation and the new persona could also confuse the young mother. She needs a different set of skills to manage new relationships, especially the new friends coming her way, including those lecherous uncles who may show up and seek to exploit her innocence. The people turning her into a s*x symbol should also tarry a while, and remember that she is a married mother of two. She needs counseling. And her sliding door installer husband, who has featured in her fairytale so far as a hanger-on, no matter what happens, should not be made to slide away. Sunday Orisaguna should also be counseled, given new clothes, taught English and sent to finishing school. He should not be left behind.

Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Rickey Tarfa sues MTN, EFCC, others for N5bn

Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Rickey Tarfa, has filed a lawsuit against telecommunications company, MTN Nigeria, and EFCC for the alleged violation of his right to privacy. EFCC had on February 5 arrested Rickey Tarfa and confiscated his mobile phones & Mercedez Benz SUV, on the allegation that he hid two alleged suspects in his car to prevent their arrest.

Tarfa is seeking a court declaration that his right to privacy was violated when his phone call records/log was allegedly accessed without his authority and made available to Sahara Reporters and other online news media without a lawful court order. 

He is urging the court to order MTN and EFCC to pay him N5billion for the violation of his rights.

President Buhari to depart for Saudi Arabia tomorrow

President Buhari will depart Nigeria for Saudi Arabia tomorrow February 22nd. A statement by the Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, states that President Buhari, who will be accompanied by a high-powered Federal Government delegation, including the Minister of State (Petroleum) and Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, (NNPC), Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, will first fly to Riyadyh for talks on Tuesday with King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and senior officials of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Ongoing efforts by Nigeria and other members of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to achieve greater stability in the price of crude oil exports are expected to be high on the agenda of discussions between President Buhari and the Saudi Monarch.

Crude oil prices and market stability will also be on the front burner when President Buhari goes on to Doha on Saturday for talks on Sunday with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Buhari is also scheduled to meet with leading Saudi and Qatari businessmen in Riyadh and Doha, and invite them to support his administration’s efforts to revamp the Nigerian economy by taking advantage of the great investment opportunities currently available in Nigeria’s mining, agriculture, power supply, infrastructure, transportation, communications and other sectors.

President Buhari’s other engagements in Saudi Arabia include meetings with heads of international financial organisations and multilateral associations. Before going on to Doha, the President will also visit Medina and Mecca to pray for greater peace, prosperity and progress in Nigeria

800,000 women affected by VVF annually in Nigeria

The United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) on Saturday said about 800,000 women suffered from Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF) annually in Nigeria.
The Country Representative of the fund in Nigeria, Ratidzai Ndhlovu, disclosed this at the graduation of 100 rehabilitated women living with obstetric Fistula in Sokoto.

Ndhlovu, represented by Dr Audu Alayande, Assistant Country Representative, Reproductive Health, said one in every 10 women suffered from this condition following childbirth.
Ndhlovu, who donated assorted empowerment materials worth N2.3 million to the graduands, said most women who developed fistula had probably given birth at home with no assistance from skilled birth attendant.
“For this group of women, everyday, they must cope with the foul smell emanating from their leaking urine and faeces,” she added.
She lamented that most of the affected women often lose their babies following child birth process.
“In the same vein, these women down with VVF were often abandoned by their husbands, stigmatized by families and communities, and later ostracized.”
She said the graduands had received a two-month training in sewing and knitting, petty trading and grinding machines operations, among others.
She said the items given to them would help them to be productive and useful to themselves.
“This gesture is aimed at helping their reintegration process back into the society and reduce their stigmatization,” Ndhlovu said.
The Permanent Secretary, state ministry for Women and Children Affairs, Suleiman Sarkin-Fulani, commended UNFPA for the gesture.
Mr. Sarkin-Fulani said the state government had staffed and equipped Maryam Abacha Hospital, which hosts VVF Centre to enable it take care of its patients.
He appealed to other donor agencies, partner organizations and wealthy individuals to assist in treating and rehabilitating VVF patients.
Musa Isa, the Executive Director, Nigeria Fistula Foundation, urged the beneficiaries to desist from selling the items given to them.
One of the graduands, Balki Saidu, commended the fund for rescuing them from the “shackles of poverty”.

Pres.Buhari begins total probe of Jonathan’s govt

It was gathered that a total probe of the administration run by immediate past president, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is underway as the National Economic Council, NEC, Ad-hoc Committee on the Management of Excess Crude Account Proceeds and Accruals into the Federation Account, headed by the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, is to hire two international forensic audit firms to probe revenue that accrued into the Federation Account and how it was spent under former Dr Goodluck Jonathan as President.
Mr. Oshiomhole told journalists at the end of the first meeting of the committee in Abuja, yesterday that the auditors would cover the period January 1, 2010 to June 1, 2015.
It put paid to calls by the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, that Buhari should extend his probe to the administrations of Jonathan’s predecessors, Alh. Umaru Yar’ Adua.and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
Already, some revenue generating agencies have been invited to brief the committee which will take detailed briefings from all Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs of the Federal Government that deal directly with revenue.
The focus will be on the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, the Nigeria Customs Service, the Central bank of Nigeria, the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, NEITI, among others.
Other members of the committee included Gov. Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai of Kaduna State, Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe, and Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom.
He said that the committee did not want its actions to be bogged down by political interpretations and that the members were not professionals. Even if they were professionals, he said that their duties as governors would not allow them the time to do a thorough work.
His words, “We held our first primary session today here with some of the revenue generating agencies that are supposed to remit funds to the federation account. We had a successful session with Customs, NPA, NEITI, SEC, FIRS, and quite a number of others and next week we will also hear from CBN, Ministry of Finance, Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.
For the remaining ones, we agree we are going to meet on Thursday next week, NNPC, NPDC, DPR, NIMASA and other remaining agencies.
We have started the work, with the idea to hear them out, what they have been doing, with particular emphasis on revenue accruing from these organizations and whether or not these have been remitted to the Federation Account for judicious distribution.
His words: “We realised that this is a task and given our mandate, even if we were professional accountants because we are sitting governors, we would not have the time to do a forensic audit which this assignment entails.
“Therefore, we have agreed in line with our mandate to appoint two reputable international audit firms to carry out a thorough forensic audit, not only of NNPC, which is more of excess crude, but other monies that accrued to the Federation Accounts. We have other revenues like bonuses, royalties, taxes, VAT that flow into the Federation Account.
“We are taking a holistic review of the entire process, looking at all the agencies that make contribution of funds to the federation account.
We are convinced that by appointing audit firms, we will allow professionals to carry out this exercise, so that it will be free of any political colouration and also we will ensure the outcome of the investigation will.
“We have learned, we have listened and asked questions. I think we all have a clear picture of what is happening in those organizations before now. Some have information to supply and we have drawn attention to those areas, they are willing to oblige. We believe in the end, we will be able to not just establish what had happened over the period but much more important, going forward with the changes the President has promised the country.
“It is not going to be business as usual. He started on a clean slate and everybody knows the new rules of the game and in particular as the laws apply to the various institutions are implemented in full. So I think we started very well. We are very confident that we are going to come out with something that is going to be of immense benefits to the Nigerian people”.
On the rationale for embarking on another audit report with regards to the alleged missing funds, he said “Some reports were produced by PWC but  in that report the PWC expressed their frustration and pointed to the fact that they were not able to access all the information they needed and that what they were able to produce was to the extent of information that was made available to them.”
He added: “Audit can only be credible as much as information that was made available to auditors. The good news now is that with President Buhari, all the books will be open, no agency has any protection. Any agency that refuses to open the books then is ready to go on confrontation with the authority.
“The forensic audit will act on the whole truth and nothing but the truth so that all stakeholders will have basis to formulate good  policies and that Nigeria will never find itself in this circle where huge sums of money are allegedly diverted and  unaccounted for. Audit has become a way of life for all public institutions.”
On the duration of the audit exercise, Oshiomhole explained that  the committee had looked at it professionally. “We are focusing on a five year circle. What we have agreed is that we are going to carry out an audit for five years from 1st January 2010 to 30th June 2015.
“If the audit report reveals that we need to go backward, then we can do that. But for the first instance, this is the period that we consider good.
“We can’t impose a time frame on them but will engage them and by Thursday we will be able to make it public. We need to listen to them and agreed with them on how much time will be okay for them. We are all in a hurry to ensure that the right thing is done. The emphasis is not on time but doing thorough job

I’m not indebted to FCMB – Uzodinma

Senator Hope Uzodinma has said that he is not indebted to First City Monument Bank Limited, insisting that he neither borrowed from the bank nor was notified of any indebtedness by FCMB.

Reacting to the list of alleged delinquent debtors released by FCMB on Wednesday, Uzodinma challenged the bank to provide details of his alleged indebtedness to it.

He said companies on whose boards he served and which obtained loans under strict business rules, had liquidated all such loans and this could be verified by the Credit Bureau Search Portal of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

“For the bank to publish my name as a debtor is callous and an attempt to disparage me. I feel pained that people who have worked to the levels of command and leadership are made targets of press war, mischief and ridicule. I have no banking relationship with FCMB. I have never opened any account with the bank, talk less of borrowing from it. This is scandalous,” Uzodinma said.

Similarly, the Board of Directors of Pauli Mama West Africa Limited has refuted the publication that it obtained a loan from Diamond Bank Plc in 2005, saying the company was incorporated in 2008

Woman Native Doctor Arrested After Selling 19 Kids in Owerri

It was gathered that the police at State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Owerri, have arrested a woman who engages in human trafficking in Okporo in Orlu town, Imo State, southeast
Nigeria.
The woman, Chioma Anoruo, has allegedly confessed that she and her husband, Emeka, who is now on the run, have sold more than 19 children to their clients.
Chioma was arrested by the community’s local vigilante led by their chairman, Innocent Anokwute, who later handed her over to the police at SCID.

Five children including a new born baby kidnapped for sale were also rescued.
An SUV belonging to her husband was recovered and an undisclosed large sum of money found on Chioma was also recovered by the vigilante.
Newsmen gathered from the residents the community that there has been frequent disappearnce of children in the area which became of serious concern to the community leaders.
This year alone the community has recorded a number of missing children. On 30 of March this year, Dominion Obasi, a pupil of Ezioha Community School, Okporo was kidnapped in the school premise and since then, he has not been found.

While the community was searching for him, a son of a Deeper Life church pastor was also kidnapped and is still missing.
As if that was not enough, a man called Femi lost his six-year-old son and the boy has not been found since then.
Recently, two sons of the same parents, identified as Chukwuemeka and Chigozie, pupils of Holy Trinity Anglican School, Amazu in Okporo were abducted while returning home from school.
As the abductors were trying to escape with them on their motorcycle, a palm wine tapper who saw the two men, while on top of a palm tree, raised the alarm which attracted the attention of vigilantes who pursued them and apprehended one of the suspects identified as Ebuka.
It was Ebuka’s confession that led to the arrest of Chioma. Ebuka mentioned Chioma and her husband as their sponsors who buy each child from them for N100,000. The couple then sells the children for higher amount to make profit profit.

The vigilantes asked Ebuka to show them where their sponsors reside in the area and he took them to a house belonging to an indigiene who resides in Lagos identified as Nicholas Okeke.
The house served as the couple’s residence as well as where they kept the stolen children before selling them.
According to the vigilantes, when Chioma’s husband, Emeka sighted them, he escaped through the back door while Chioma was caught and forced to open the doors to their apartment where the victims were found inside a room.
During her confession, she revealed that human trafficking was the business she and her husband, Emeka, have been doing for years.
She said her job was to keep the victims while her husband contacted buyers and sold them.
She also confessed that they have sold more than 19 children and the remaining five were yet to be sold before her arrest.
The vigilantes transferred Chioma and the rescued victims to SCID Owerri under a department led by Supol Obi.

When our correspondent visited Okporo in Orlu where the incident happened, the residents confirmed the incident and said the matter has been taken over by the police at SCID Owerri.
The traditional prime minister of Okporo comprising three autonomous communities in Orlu, Chief Victor Udensi, said that there was high crime rate in the communities, including child theft.
He said because of the challenge, they called a security meeting and beefed up security in the area.
He said now the crime rate has reduced because of the drastic actions they have taken over time.
At the time of filing this report, our correspondent was on his way to Owerri , Imo State capital where the suspects are to be paraded by the police.

EFCC identifies owner of $2.1m seized cash at the Muritala Airport

 

It was reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) yesterday said it had traced about $2.1million (N413million) seized at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos to a former Executive Secretary of a federal parastatal.
The commission said it might be forced to declare the man wanted if he does not show up for questioning.
The agency said all attempts to locate the man in Lagos and Abuja proved futile.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on July 3 arrested a bureau de change operator, Mr. Ibiteye John Bamidele, at MMA Terminal 2 (MMA2) Lagos with the cash.
The Head of Public Affairs, NDLEA, Mitchel Ofoyeju, said Bamidele was arrested by anti-narcotic officials, who suspected that the cash was to be laundered.
The NDLEA handed over the suspect to the EFCC on July 8, following his confession that he was on money laundering errand for the ex-official.
It was, however, learnt that all attempts by the EFCC to interrogate the suspect had failed.
A top source in the agency said: “The EFCC has finalised a plan to declare the former parastatal’s chief wanted, over a $2.1million money laundering case.
“The anti-graft agency has been on his trail for weeks, since a certain Ibiteye John Bamidele named him as the owner of a $2,198,900 haul, recovered from him by men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.
“Ibiteye was arrested on July 3, 2015 at the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos by the NDLEA and handed over to the EFCC on July 8, for further investigation.
“The suspect, upon interrogation, named as the owner of the money, but all efforts to locate him both in Lagos and his known address in Abuja proved futile.”
The Head of Media and Publicity of EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said: “We have plans to declare the man wanted. We urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the Commission or the nearest police station.”
